Building:
This is a small three storey apartment building. The rear façade and rooftop are not insulated. The balconies at the rear are old and need renovation.

Scope:
The owner wants to increase the energy performance of the building by isolating the roof and rear façade. This will lead to lower energy bills for the tenants and increase the potential rental income.

Project:
One level is added on the rooftop to fill the empty aerial space. At the same time an extension is added to the whole rear of the building. The new level conforms to the Brussels Region 2017 energy performance requirements. Thanks to this double extension operation, the entire apartments building will be more energy efficient. The new entity is clearly marked through the utilization of zinc.
